This coming Sunday, May 23  marks the tenth year of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR). To celebrate this momentous milestone, event partner Triumph Motorcycles has built a special one-off Thruxton 1200 RS as the first prize of the 2021 DGR Gentlefolk Competition.

Once these four steps have been completed, participants will receive a 2021 DGR commemorative prize patch, as well as a single entry to win the DGR Thruxton RS. Other prizes will be up for grabs as well, including a custom DGR helmet from Hedon, and a prize pack from UK-based motorcycle outfitter Belstaff.

Being a special one-off custom bike, the DGR Thruxton RS was designed, painted, and customized in Triumph’s UK paint shop. At this state-of-the-art facility within the Triumph factory in Hinckley, highly trained professionals ensure the paint schemes they produce are of the highest possible quality. There, they create unique, handcrafted custom paintwork for custom bikes and special-edition Triumphs.

Custom paintwork and other special DGR bits aside, the Thruxton RS used as a base bike is quite impressive even in standard trim. Powered by a 1,200cc parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crank, the Thruxton RS is capable of 103hp at 7,500rpm and 112Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. A fully adjustable 43mm inverted Showa big piston fork takes care of suspension duties in the front, while fully adjustable Ohlins twin shocks handle the rear. Very beefy Brembo M50 monobloc calipers clamp onto twin 310mm front rotors, while a Nissin floating caliper bites onto a single 220mm rotor in the back.

This modern cafe racer also comes with a comprehensive tech package, which includes three riding modes, ABS, switchable traction control, a ride-by-wire throttle, a USB charging socket, an engine immobilizer, and a torque assist clutch.
