Before spending Valentine’s evening with his wife and kids, Dingdong Dantes put himself in the shoes of delivery riders.
The actor personally brought flowers and food to six lucky customers via his app Dingdong PH. According to his post, he started at 9:30am and ended before 3pm, and got to experience first-hand how difficult the job is.
Dantes wrote: “There are so many factors to consider: heat, dehydration, heavy traffic, wrong addresses—which can cause panic and delays, customer’s temperament, plus the danger of getting into accidents especially if you have not been properly trained.”
He noted that despite these circumstances (not to mention the average eight to 10 transactions on good days like Valentine’s Day), couriers try to wear a smile at all times and make everything look bearable.
“Maybe it’s because of their clear ‘why’ and strong motivation. Ginagawa nila ito para sa mga mahal nila sa buhay,” Dantes explained, saying he’s impressed with how delivery riders are soldiering on and keeping the economy afloat.
“And today, mas lalo pang tumindi ang paghanga at respeto ko sa inyong lahat. That’s why I will never get tired of my mission of professionalizing this industry, especially for those who want to be successful in this field.”
The EuroMonkeys member actually had already done his part by launching Dingdong PH, which helped displaced entertainment workers amid the pandemic.
