Remember the viral photo of a Grab rider attending online classes on the side of the road between deliveries? His name is Francis John ‘Ax’ Valerio and he’s a third-year college working student at Adamson University.
Valerio has been riding with the on-demand delivery app since 2019. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the working student would attend his classes from morning to afternoon before working from 6pm to 12 midnight. But when COVID happened, he had to work full-time in order to support his family. And since classes resumed online in the midst of the quarantine, he would turn off his Grab application in between delivery trips and attend his classes to make sure he won’t miss out.
His photo as well as his story became viral when a friend of his took the photo and uploaded it online. According to Valerio, he had just finished a delivery and was attending an online class near a mall when his friend asked where he was to meet up with him.
Multitasking is nothing new to this student because prior to Grab, he was already working in a fast-food restaurant, so he was surprised by the virality and reactions his photo got online.
