The new normal has made organizing long rides more complicated, but this is what all-female motorcycle club OMG Squad just did over the weekend.
Last Sunday, these riders set out for The Old Grove Farmstead in Batangas, also known as the ‘Netherlands of Lipa.’ It was the group’s first long-distance road trip since the pandemic hit.
The women were not without a suitable riding partner—in this case, the Honda Genio. Equipped with a Euro 3-compliant 110cc SOHC air-cooled engine, the scooter is fuel-efficient and eco-friendly with a claimed mileage of 59.1 km/L. It’s armed with a park brake lock and side-stand kill switch.
The Genio, which is priced at P72,900, also has a combi-brake system that consists of a front hydraulic disc and rear mechanical drum. Other features include an LED headlight, digital meter panel with Eco indicator, and secure key shutter with seat opener.
“We are here to enjoy this ride, the nature, and the comfort of riding your Genio. We expect that everyone will practice road discipline and courtesy. Let us show everyone that motorcycle riding is something that ladies should not be afraid of. It should be enjoyed when practiced with road discipline and safety,” said Honda Philippines senior assistant vice president Jomel Jerezo.
