“Actually, more on BMW kasi ako eh. So, siyempre parang iniisip ko parang gusto ko ring ma-experience yung Ducati,” the two-time PBA Most Valuable Player replied when asked about his dream bike in Tropang Top Bikes. Yap recently featured on the Calamansi audio show with photographer and fellow Club 9T member Lito Sy.
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters guard owns a BMW R nineT Urban G/S, BMW R100, BMW R1250 GS, as well as a Harley-Davidson Breakout, Vespa GTS 300, and Vespa 946. But it was the vintage roadster that got him in the three-year-old namesake motorcycle group, which is limited to around 30 members.
Club 9T—which also includes Yap’s current and former colleagues LA Tenorio, KG Canaleta, JC Intal, and Paul Artadi—frequents bars in Poblacion, Makati, not to mention Tagaytay, Batangas, Laguna, Subic, and Baguio during its pre-pandemic rides.
As for the group’s ride of choice, Sy explained: “Actually, kasi cafe racer siya eh. Pang-porma talaga siya eh—pang-downtown, punta ka lang magkakape ka, may pupuntahan ka lang. The best yung R nineT dun kasi maporma, di ba? Feeling mo si Tom Cruise ka eh.”
“Pogi bike,” Yap interjected. “Di ka makakapasok sa Club 9T pag hindi sagad (sa porma) yung bike mo, haha! Ubusan nga ng pera diyan, magastos nga. Halos doble na yung (presyo ng) bike mo, accessories tsaka yung bike.”
