Actor JC Santos’ latest movie role was close to playing out in real life when he was feeling the effects of the COVID-19 crisis last year. In the contemporary romantic film Dito at Doon, Santos portrays Caloy, a delivery rider and the love team partner of actress Janine Gutierrez’ character Len.
Off-cam, he had seriously thought about quitting show business and taking a chance on food delivery service due to the uncertainty amid the pandemic, not to mention the ABS-CBN shutdown.
Tapos biglang, uy, wala! Tapos nagsara yung network,” he revealed in an interview with PEP.ph.
So that was really bad for me.”
It came to a point where Santos was browsing for a motorcycle and telling his wife, “Magluto ka, ilagay natin sa garapon, ide-deliver ko na.” He revealed having considered taking a break from acting because he needs to pay the bills as he contemplated his family’s future.
He admitted: “Nag-worry ako nang konti.
Instead, Santos took advantage of the extended time off and focused on raising their one-year-old daughter. JC Santos said the experience changed his mindset, calling it the “good side” of what happened to him in 2020.
