Both riders have completed the 5,000km adventure tour around the country, with Torres having the distinction of being the only woman to finish the Loop five times. Bucu, for his part, can’t wait to go again after his first time.
To cross off the “life-changing” ride off their bucket list, the two PH Loopers had to survive a few bumps in the road—literally and figuratively. Torres and Bucu each had several encounters with armed men while passing through the outskirts of Mindanao. The former had also figured in a pair of accidents involving trucks.
When asked about what piece of advice they can give to aspiring Loopers, Torres said, “Lagi ko lang sinasabi, ride humble. Nirerespeto mo yung culture pa rin nila. Kasi tayo yung dumayo dun, so parang ako nakikisama, so siguro sila ganun din. Pakikisama at pakikibagay, yun palagi.”
