While many areas in Luzon are under strict quarantine regulations, the opposite is happening in Mindanao.
Except for a few areas, riders from this region say they can freely move around as long as they observe the minimum health protocols laid out by government authorities. In fact, one of the biggest motorcycle dealerships in the region was able to pull off a big event in which 125 riders participated.
Last March 27, Norminring Motorbikes staged the 2021 Ride & Camp, a fun-filled moto camping event, at the 28-hectare Mindanao Enduro Park at Barangay Bagocboc, Opol, Misamis Oriental. This scenic spot is only a 20km ride from Cagayan de Oro.
According to Jondi Lacson, CEO of Norminring Development Corporation, the participants arrived not just on motorbikes, but also on 4x4s and ATVs to enjoy the scenic, well-preserved forest areas of Misamis Oriental.
Tents were put up in accordance with social-distancing policies. A clubhouse was fully prepared to accommodate members of the family who love indoor games and activities.
To be able to survive the challenging trails, the participants were given basic off-roading tips by coaches Daniel Sunga and Marlon Montera. “Tuloy lang ang mga activities namin dito. Basta we made sure that everyone is observing the health protocols,” says Lacson.
Riders who came on motorbikes without knobbies were treated to free test rides of the latest KTM models: the 790 Adventure R, the 790 Adventure, the 390 Adventure, the 250 EXC-F Six Days, and the 350 EXC-F.
On April 30, Norminring will be celebrating its 10th anniversary as a multi-brand motorcycle dealership. Lacson is optimistic that he and his team will be able to come up with activities to celebrate the momentous occassion given the success of the Ride & Camp event and if the health situation permits.
