But did you know that there is another scoot that he holds dearer to his heart?
In the latest episode of the Spotify podcast Superhuman with Wil Dasovich, Reyes recalled his life before he rose to social media stardom. He had taken over their family business (involving chicken products and his famed oil of choice), which blew up shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
The workhorse that he’s referring to is a white Yamaha Fino:
Buti nga di ako nahuli, bawal yun eh, overloading.”
Ninong Ry eventually sent the dilapidated scooter for some much-needed restoration work, which according to him costed almost double the Fino’s original price. He didn’t mind the price tag, and even told the mechanic that he wants to use his trusty scoot for 10 years more.
Fortunately for Reyes, Pateros-based automotive customization shop Tokwa Party Garage was up for the task. He related, “Sabi niya, ‘Kayang-kaya, maganda pa yung kondisyon ng makina.’ Sabi niya, ‘Oo, maganda to.’ Dumikit talaga yan, so mahalaga sakin yang bagay na yan.”
Just like with his trending dishes, we’re excited for the finished product.
