As the custom bike building scene grows, more types of motorcycles are receiving the personalized treatment. One base bike choice that is rising in popularity is the BMW R1250 R. Lots of builders think that this roadster is an ideal customization platform, thanks to its boxer-twin engine, dynamic styling, and premium componentry.
The R1250 R has caught the attention of Renard Speed Shop, a custom bike builder based in Tallinn, Estonia. Renard Speed Shop saw the boxer-powered BMW and set out to “create an eye-catching and unique city cruiser.”
Handcrafted aluminum body panels replace the BMW’s original bodywork, turning the sharp roadster into the head-turning work of art you see here. The front grille and triple tree are made out of CNC milled aluminum, while 3D-printed suspension covers give the front fork a beefy, solid look.
A custom stacked twin headlight arrangement supplants the single-unit stock headlamp, giving the bike a retro spirit despite its contemporary performance. Front and rear Jonich spoked wheels round out the throwback look, while a custom single seat with integrated taillight emphasizes the size and shape of the white bodywork.
A pair of K&N air filter pods let the 1254cc boxer-twin engine breathe in as much air as possible. Allowing this behemoth mill to sing are Akrapovic twin-exit mufflers taken from a Ducati Panigale Superleggera.
Just how much does something like this cost? Pricing for the one-of-a-kind build is listed on the Renard Speed Shop site as ‘On Request,’ so if you want to add such rolling work of art to your collection, you better start drafting an email.
