In the game of life, we all do what we must to survive. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, this fact is emphasized all the more as Filipinos face an ecomonic crisis and looming uncertainty. Still, if we look hard enough, we can still find little pockets of inspiration to help keep us going.
Take the story of Joy Calimlim Habana, for example. We recently highlighted the father of four’s work as a Grab delivery rider despite being a person with disability (PWD), which earned him high praise from former senator JV Ejercito. But his inspiring story goes beyond plying the streets each day.
On top of his delivery job, Habana also juggles time as a pest control worker at a hospital, all in the name of providing for his family. And if that isn’t commendable enough, he is also an avid sailor. Currently, he is waiting on the Philippine Sports Commission’s approval to join the national team.
“Kung PWD ka, tumayo ka sa sarili mo. Huwag mo ikahihiya na ikaw ay isang PWD,” Habana says.
