On May 23, join hundreds of thousands of riders all over the world as they put on their most dapper ensembles and ride for the 2021 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and mental health. Here in Metro Manila, thousands of riders have joined the DGR parades since 2014.
This year, as the riding community makes sense of the pandemic and the challenges it brings, Metro Manila DGR participants are encouraged to ride solo to comply with local social-distancing restrictions and health protocols. Riding solo doesn’t mean things have to be less fun, however.
Two exciting components will be introduced as part of this year’s event. The first is the Shoot-Tag-Ride-Repeat (STRR) Challenge for riders in the morning, where participants are encouraged to stop at partner establishments and take selfies to post on Instagram for a chance to win prizes from official DGR Manila partners.
The other new component is the Ride Solo, Party Together live virtual event in the afternoon, which will be streamed live from official event partner Triumph Motorcycles Philippines’ showroom from 3pm to 4pm. Through the stream, participants will take a look back at previous DGR moto rallies in Manila and have the chance to rub elbows (virtually) with special guests from the industry. Prizes will also be distributed to the winners of the STRR challenge.
For safety reasons, details of the official DGR 2021 STRR challenge will only be made available to registered participants and will not be posted publicly. Interested in joining on May 23? Pick out your slickest outfit, shop for appropriately retro gear if you haven’t already, and register at the official DGR website. If you’re feeling generous, you can donate to the global cause on the site as well.
