With almost every bike these days being updated to conform to Euro 5 standards, it comes as no surprise that British icon Triumph has also brought its lineup up to spec with current emissions regulations. The latest to get this upgrade is the Street Scrambler, a go-anywhere bike with classic looks and modern performance.
Based on the historic Bonneville, the Street Scrambler is powered by a 900cc SOHC parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crank. It generates 64.1hp at 7,250rpm, while torque reaches its 80Nm peak at 3,250rpm. Despite the Euro 5 update, the Triumph Street Scrambler remains as torquey as ever, serving as a good example of a manufacturer keeping up with the times without having to compromise.
New additions for the 2021 model year include a new side panel with an aluminum number board featuring an embossed logo, new headlight brackets, and new throttle body finishers. Remaining unchanged are all the technical bits that make the Street Scrambler so potent on- and off-road, such as the accessible 31.1-inch seat height, wide aluminum handlebar, adjustable suspension, wire-spoked wheels with Metzeler Tourance tires, Brembo brakes, switchable ABS, traction control, and three riding modes.
Alongside the 2021 model is the Sandstorm variant, which is a special-edition Street Scrambler limited to just 775 units worldwide. The Sandstorm comes kitted out with a high level front mudguard, a unique Sandstorm and Matt Storm Grey paint job, a tail tidy, aluminum sump guard, rubber knee guards, and a headlight grill. As is customary for special-edition Triumphs, the Sandstorm also comes with a personalized certificate of authenticity bearing the bike’s VIN.
Local pricing has not yet been announced for the 2021 Street Scrambler, and we have not yet received word if any Sandstorm units will make it to our shores.
