Vespa has leveled up its scooter lineup in terms of electronics, fitting the 2021 Vespa Sprint S with a TFT dashboard plus connectivity features. Gone are the days of the old-school, mechanically activated speedometer and trip meter that had become the standard instrument panel for the classic Italian brand.

The latest version of the Sprint S was unveiled during a recent virtual launch, with the new TFT panel in focus. This feature offers brand-exclusive MIA connectivity, which allows the rider to link his smartphone to the onboard electronic system via Bluetooth.

Thanks to the Vespa app, which is available in the App Store or Google Play, the dashboard shows notifications like incoming messages, as well as shareable information on the scooter’s status, riding parameters, and travel data.

To ensure that the rider keeps his eyes on the road, calls can be managed by gently moving the little joystick on the left-hand control block.

What sets the new Sprint S apart from other variants is the elegant Bronzo Antico and Nero Opaco body shade. The scooter shares its capable 154.8cc single-cylinder four-stroke Piaggio I-get engine with the rest of the Sprint and Primavera models.

It also comes with a rectangular LED headlamp for a sportier appeal, instead of the classic round headlight.

Vespa also retained the single-arm and single-hydraulic fork for the front suspension, and the four-way adjustable double-acting shock absorber at the rear. Stopping power is provided by a front disc brake with ABS and rear drum brake.

The 2021 Vespa Sprint S is priced at P245,000—an additional P30,000 from the outgoing model. Will you go for it?
