Yamaha has launched the 2021 YZF-R3 with some equipment upgrades and exciting new color schemes: Electric Teal, and a special MotoGP edition. The latter comes with YZR-M1-inspired livery along with Monster Energy and ENEOS decals. The Electric Teal variant, meanwhile, gets aggressive graphics and red-painted alloy wheels.
The new YZF-R3 is equipped with twin LED headlights and taillights. It also boasts fairing-mounted folding side mirrors and sporty split seats. The suspension system has been tweaked to feature upside-down front forks and pre-load adjustable rear monoshock with a firmer tuning setup. The braking duties are handled by a 298mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS as standard.
The sportbike’s aggressive styling is highlighted by a central air duct on the fascia which maximizes the engine’s cooling airflow. The compact multi-function meter includes the speedometer, fuel level and economy readings, water temperature, clock, and oil change meter.
The new YZF-R3 is powered by a 321cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled, four-stroke engine which puts out 42hp and 28.8Nm of torque. This high-revving mill is mated with a smooth-shifting six-speed manual transmission. The updated bike will initially be made available in the US starting November 2020. The standard retail price for the Electric Teal variant is $5,299 (P258,000), while the MotoGP edition goes for $5,599 (P273,000.
No word yet from Yamaha Motor Philippines as to when we will get to see this lightweight sportbike in the metal.
