In recognition of the growing global demand for sport touring bikes, Ducati has taken the wraps off the new Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak, now in MotoGP-inspired livery.

According to the Italian manufacturer, this particular variant underwent significant changes in terms of chassis, ergonomics, electronic controls, and a few other components to achieve a sportier ride vis-a-vis its sibling, the Multistrada V4 S.

The Pikes Peak takes the racing graphics of the Desmosedici GP 21, which goes well with the number plates placed on both sides of the fuel tank. The aesthetic is also a perfect match to its wide range of carbon fiber components, along with the street-legal Akrapovic titanium and carbon exhaust.

Highlighting the sport tourer’s athletic stance are Öhlins front fork anodized gold tubes; two-tone black and red rear saddle with exclusive V4 logo; and Ducati Corse badge proudly displayed on its beak.

Ducati made some tweaks to the 17-inch front wheel to ensure better riding precision and steering responsiveness.

The touring machine is fitted with sporty road tires (120/70-17 front and 190/55-17 rear). These rubbers are mounted on Marchesini forged aluminum rims, which are 2.5kg lighter than the S variant’s wheelset.

The Pikes Peak’s Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension translates into a more stable road handling. This setup not only automatically adjusts the setting to complement your riding style, but is also lighter than the Multistrada V4 S by 4kg.

The aluminum monocoque frame had the inclination of the steering head modified to 25.75 degrees (from 24.5 degrees of the S). The trail and wheelbase geometry were also recalibrated to the new variant’s overall performance. The footpegs are also set higher and farther back (10mm each way), while the handlebars are more narrow and bent.

At the heart of this speed-hungry model is the V4 Granturismo engine, which generates 170hp at 10,500rpm with updates on the electronic management system. By the way, the Pikes Peak is the first Multistrada with a Race Riding Mode.

Does it sound more like a race bike than a tourer?
