Some special-edition motorcycle trim levels focus on aesthetics and neat color schemes. In the case of the new Kawasaki Z900 SE, the already potent naked sportbike gets a bunch of performance-oriented pieces to up its fun factor.
The up-spec Z900 is visually the same as the standard variant and only comes in Metallic Spark Black/Candy Lime Green. The Japanese manufacturer must have heard the saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” The bike’s ‘Sugomi’ design is aesthetically distinct from other naked bikes prowling the city streets and twisty roads.
Additions for this trim include an upgraded brake package with Brembo M4.32 radial monobloc calipers and 300mm discs at the front, complemented by Brembo pads and steel braided brake lines.
The Z is also fitted with a revised suspension setup—a large-diameter gold-colored inverted fork with full adjustability is paired with an S46 rear shock from Öhlins.
Aside from the styling, the bike’s hardware is also identical to that of the standard version. Power comes courtesy of a 948cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine, which is capable of 123.6 hp at 9,500rpm and 98.6 Nm of torque at 7,700rpm.
Three-mode Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) comes standard, just like the assist and slipper clutch, ABS, power modes, and Kawasaki’s current high-tech TFT display with smartphone connectivity.
Since the Philippine market already has the Z1000, it’s unlikely that the Z900 SE will make it to our shores. But in case you were wondering, this bike has a starting price of £10,749, or about P737,900.
