For Filipinos, Yamaha’s improved NMax 155 isn’t exactly news, but our fellow riders in other countries were just introduced to the scooter. Motorcycle enthusiasts in Europe and Australia can now enjoy the NMax’s updated style, added features, and revised ergonomics.
Those familiar with Yamaha’s plush commuter know that the current gen model is powered by a 155cc SOHC single-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Actuation, Blue Core tech, and Smart Motor Generator. Peak power is at 15hp available at 8,000rpm while 13.9Nm of torque can be found at 6,500rpm. A CVT gearbox takes care of shifting and transmits this power to the rear through a V-belt drive.
The urban mobility icon now comes with LED illumination, a more comfortable riding position, and sportier bodywork. Making the daily ride even more potent are features like a 12V power socket; a 7.1-liter fuel tank that allows for up to 300km of range; a new Stop and Start system for better fuel economy; and a new communication control unit that enables phone pairing with the Yamaha My Ride app (known here as the Y-Connect app).
We’ve been able to enjoy these components for about a year now, so it’s great to hear that other riders around the world can get a taste of Yamaha’s premium scooter functions.
The 2022 NMax 155 is priced at €3,499, or about P206,000. Seeing as how the NMax in the local market tops out at P144,500, it’s pretty obvious who got the better deal.
