CFMoto’s 700 CL-X is an interesting motorcycle. The middleweight naked bike combines retro-modern styling with a peppy 693cc parallel-twin engine and a good amount of features. Priced at P369,800, this sort-of scrambler is a pretty tempting package.
If that model’s aesthetic appeals to you, but you don’t need or aren’t yet ready for a big bike, then CFMoto has just the thing for you. The Chinese motorcycle brand recently announced its newest offering: the 250 CL-X.
As the name implies, the motorcycle inherits the same design cues as its bigger predecessor, but with a smaller and more beginner-friendly powerplant. The 250 CL-X packs a 249cc single-cylinder engine that is shared with the 250SR sportbike. Peak power is in the ballpark of 27.5hp, which puts it in a good position to go toe-to-toe with other 250-class bikes.
The 250 gets the 700’s distinctive X-shaped headlight assembly, European styling, and swingarm-mounted license plate bracket. Setting the smaller CL-X apart from its ‘big brother’ are the frame, lower-spec suspension, and a smaller 150 section rear tire.
Front and rear single disc brakes provide stopping power, and ABS comes as standard equipment.
Given the availability of the 300SR and 300NK in several markets including the Philippines, there’s a good chance that CFMoto will also release a 300 CL-X powered by the brand’s 292cc engine platform, which is shared with the aforementioned sportbike and naked bike.
Is this a beginner bike that you would consider? Let’s hope CFMoto brings it over to our shores.
