San Manuel mayor Donya Tesoro recently handed over motorcycle patrol units to police and fire officials. The 29-year-old public servant shared on social media photos of the turnover ceremony, where she even tried getting on one of the bikes. As of this writing, her Facebook post has already garnered more than 23,000 likes, 800 comments, and 500 shares.
She wrote: “Turned over patrol bikes (and other emergency response equipment) today to our PNP and Bureau of Fire Protection. Sabay sinakyan ko na din, ha ha! Bagay ba sa’kin mag-motor?”
Amid the positive feedback, one netizen made the recommendation to improve the municipality’s motorpool and preserve the vehicles and equipment of the local government.
Part of the comment read: “Kasi common sa goverment ang bigay ng ganito ng sasakyan, and for a year lang or minsan wala pa eh sira agad. Sasabihin na lang nila hayaan na lang yan, bili na lang ng bago. Unlike pag may motorpool with equipped mechanic at skilled manggagagawa, mame-maintain ang mga sasakyan ng goverment at di na kailangan kada taon ay bago.”
Tesoro replied: “We do have an equipped mechanic and motorpool staff. Although, the maintenance of these vehicles will be under their offices since it’s already donated to them.”
Upon closer inspection, the units that were turned over appear to be Kawasaki Rouser NS125FIs. These are powered by 124.44cc single-cylinder engines that put out 12hp at 8,500rpm and 10.78Nm of torque at 6,500rpm, mated to five-speed constant mesh gearbox. Each one has a standard retail price of P63,000.
