The Ducati Superleggera V4 is the most powerful production bike to ever roll out of the Borgo Panigale factory. Only 500 units of this superbike have been built—one of which arrived on our shores earlier this year—and Unit 315 has just been presented to its new owner.
The lucky guy? Wheeltek Motor Sales Corporation’s VP for sales and marketing Roscoe Odulio. According to Odulio, the Superleggera is technically owned by the company and will be part of the Wheeltek Ultimate Big Bike Collection. The bike won’t end up being a garage queen, however, as he plans to take the Superleggera to the streets.
The bike’s ‘Super Light’ moniker is fitting for the only street-legal motorcycle in the world with a frame, subframe, swingarm, and wheels that are made of carbon fiber. Other ultra-lightweight components such as titanium and aluminum nets the Superleggera an unrivaled power-to-weight ratio. Dry weight in street-legal configuration is at 159kg, which can be further reduced to 152.2kg with the racing kit.
Propelling this superlight sportbike is a compact 998cc V4 engine capable of 224hp and 118 Nm of torque. With the racing kit installed, the power goes up to 234hp and weight is reduced by 6.8kg to achieve the claimed 1.54hp/kg ratio.
Equipment specific to the Superleggera V4 include an Öhlins suspension system with a pressurised fork, and Brembo brakes with Stylema R calipers. The onboard electronics package features cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control Evo 2, Ducati Wheelie Control Evo, Ducati Slide Control, an up and down quickshifter, engine brake control, and automatic tire calibration.
The Superleggera’s exclusivity is reflected in its materials, cutting-edge features, and, of course, the individual numbering and certificate of authenticity that comes with each of the 500 units.
Now that the P-8 million bike has been turned over to its owner, those of you dreaming of acquiring a Superleggera will have to find some other way to obtain the rare bike.
