Inspired by the successful outcome of its event last weekend, Harley-Davidson of Cebu has expressed willingness to hold a Sturgis motorcycle rally in the country next year.
Regan King, dealer principal of H-D of Cebu and Davao, said in his speech during the dealership’s sixth-anniversary celebration last Nov. 27: “We were pitching to the Department of Tourism (DOT) that we will do a Sturgis (event) in the Philippines. That would be great, ’di ba?”
Since 1938, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, US is attended by thousands of cruiser enthusiasts from all over the world. This annual event, highlighted by a grand parade, custom bike shows, and stunts, usually lasts for 10 days.
King, however, did not specify the date, venue, and duration of the Sturgis PH version.
The motorcycle rally is just one of the exciting activities being lined up by King. His team will also be deploying Harley owners for the 5,000-km Philippine Loop adventure in coordination with the DOT.
Also, H-D riders will also continue their safety training with the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) next year, it was learned. This is how King values his relationship with the Harley owners: “You guys have created more meaning to our rides.”
