After the onslaught of Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses last year, several communities in San Andres, Catanduanes were left devastated and in need of aid. With the assistance of Masonic Lodge No. 291 and the local government, Honda Foundation (HFI) lent a helping hand to these communities in need by donating construction supplies.
HFI reached out to over 100 families from Barangay Alibuag, Belmonte, Bislig, Bon’ot, Cabcab, Cabungahan, Catagbacan, Lictin, Lubas, Manambrag, Puting Baybay, Rizal, Salvacion, Tibang, and Timbaan. To help them rebuild, the organization provided each family with galvanized steel sheets for their roofing needs, sets of marine-grade plywood, coco lumber, and umbrella nails. As a little bonus, each family also received Honda souvenirs.
“The year 2020 has been a challenging year for our country. Aside from the current pandemic, some of our countrymen were also affected by a series of typhoons. May these simple donations serve as a hope for the people of Catanduanes. After all, we want to contribute to the concerted efforts dedicated to helping these communities recover. Indeed, no one should be left behind,” said Honda Philippines president Susumu Mitsuishi.
HFI also oversees other CSR programs, such as protecting the environment, supporting the youth, addressing communities’ needs, and in true Honda fashion, promoting road safety.
