KTM’s latest adventure bike has been fitted with new bodywork. The seat height was also lowered, while the fuel tanks were placed lower to improve weight distribution.
The Super Adventure R’s 1,301cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine is capable of producing 160hp and 138Nm of “earth-twisting” torque. This powertrain features improved heat dissipation, while the long-travel, adjustable WP XPLOR suspension has been reconfigured.
The seven-inch TFT display is scratch-resistant and tilt-angle adjustable while also intuitive to use, according to KTM. A six-way switch cube on the handlebar, as well as ‘Quick Select’ and ‘Favorites’ buttons, make navigation easier. Bluetooth connectivity is available using the KTM My Ride app, where riders can answer calls, play music, and be guided turn-by-turn.
Rider aids onboard include Motorcycle Traction Control, Motorcycle Stability Control with Cornering ABS, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Automatic Turn Indicator Reset, and adjustable off-road settings.
According to KTM product manager Joachim Sauer: “For KTM, ‘R’ stands for ‘Rally’ and ‘Racing’ so with the new KTM 1290 Super Adventure R we really feel in our element. Adopting all the great benefits of the recently launched S model, [it’s] here to set new standards of all-terrain performance.
“If some of the best moments of adventuring come about by discovering the unknown, with this bike riders could not have a better tool for the job.”
