The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) recently stopped several motorcycle riders at Red Cliff along the Transcentral Highway in Cebu, albeit for a different reason than you might think.
No, they weren’t issued a traffic ticket, but rather, they were given Christmas gifts by the transport officers. Led by Regional Director Victor Emmanuel Caindec, LTO-7 presented 150 driving scholarships to riders from the area.
“Pinaskuhan ni nato sa mga motorcycle riders inubanan ang Highway Patrol Group ug sa PNP,” Caindec said.
Aside from the scholarships, the agency handed out 200 sacks of rice and 100 food vouchers, which can be used in select restaurants, to the rest of the passersby on motorcycles.
The regional director added, “Aside from the early Christmas treats, we also want to help the restaurant especially the locals in their food business, so we have partnered with them with our food vouchers.”
Five new helmets were also raffled off as part of the early holiday giveaway, which advocates road safety. Last week, LTO-7 held a dialogue with different groups and individuals on the apprehension of modified motorcycles.
