Presidential spokesman Harry Roque has announced that Metro Manila will be placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) again from August 6 to 20 due to the threat of spike in COVID-19 Delta variant cases.
Likewise, President Rodrigo Duterte also approved the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to subject NCR to general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened and additional restrictions from July 30 to August 5.
Extra guidelines include no indoor and al fresco dining, as well as indoor sports venues and tourist attractions; 30% capacity in personal care services shops and outdoor tourist spots; virtual religious gatherings; and necrological services (non-COVID-19 deaths) for immediate family members.
More importantly, only authorized persons outside residence (APOR) are allowed to travel in and out of the NCR Plus area (Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, and Rizal). so you might want to hold off on that out-of-town ride.
As of writing, the Philippines has reported a total of 216 cases—eight of whom were confirmed dead—of the Delta variant.
