        NEU’s electric motorcycle lineup starts at P44,000

        Judging by the sheer number of little electric runabouts ferrying commuters throughout the metro, electric motorcycles have taken the country by storm. As the market for these becomes more and more viable, more brands are coming in to enter our market. 

        One of these upcoming manufacturers is NEU, which stands for New Electric Utility. This brand’s lineup has electric scooter models that aren’t just affordable and convenient, but quirky and classic-looking, too.

        First on the list is the Italia Classic, which as the name implies, looks just like a retro Italian scooter. A 2,000 watt motor propels this 150kg scooter up to 50ph, and six to eight hours of charging will net about 50 to 60 kilometers of range. Included in the Classic’s features are front and rear disc brakes, an alarm system, analog meters, and a storage compartment. This scooter costs P129,000, and is available in white, silver, and black.

        Next is the Italia Sport. This clean-looking two-wheeler boasts a 60kph top speed and 60 to 80 kilometers of range from its 1,200 watt motor. Charging time for this ride is around six to eight hours, and it weighst 150kg. Standard equipment includes front and rear disc brakes, an LCD screen, storage compartment, and a heavy-duty stand. Buyers will be able to choose from orange, silver blue, and white for this P66,500 scooter.

        If naked bikes are more your thing, then the Italia Naked deserves a look. A 1,500 watt motor brings this bike up to 60kph with a range of 60 to 70 kilometers. Its wide 130/70-12 tires mean more grip on the road, while front and rear disc brakes bring this 100kg machine to a stop. For P84,000, you can pick between white/black, red/black, and matte black.

        The Italia Boxer comes decked out in futuristic-looking bodywork that wouldn’t look out of place in a cyberpunk setting. This 150kg scooter is capable of going up to 50kph thanks to its 2,000 watt motor, which has a range of 50 to 60 kilometers. An LED screen displays necessary info, and a mudguard prevents your back from getting mud and water stains on rainy days. This scooter only comes in black/silver, and can be had for P84,000.

        The City Glide closely resembles a conventional gasoline scooter. Making this more ride more practical are passenger grab handles and a wide floorboard. Top speed is at 50kph, while range is estimated at 50 to 60 kilometers. Pricing for this 1,000-watt motor-powered scoot is at P55,000, and color options include white, red, and black.

        For running errands and livelihood duties, the Wander comes equipped with a front basket and step-through frame. Its 800-watt motor lets it attain a top speed of 50km/h, while its battery allows for 50-60 kilometers of range. Available colors include orange, silver blue, and white. Pricing for this bike starts at P44,000.
