Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Guillermo Eleazar has warned erring motorcycle riders anew against blatantly violating traffic regulations and putting the lives of other motorists in danger.
In a statement, Eleazar stressed that the police will not hesitate to go after such individuals, emphasizing the fate of three Zamboanga-based riders who recently went viral for drag racing along the Maria Clara L. Lobregat Highway. He identified the three riders as Harson Dale Feliciano Natividad, Juniesher Ismun Bonifacio, and Anton Jan Refran Loon, a motovlogger.
Loon, who even uploaded the video of their dangerous stunts online, has issued a public apology: “I want to give my sincerest apologies to the whole riding community because of our reckless actions and stupid games, we abused our privilege given to us to be able to drive on public roads. And as a result, we were hunted down (by the authorities).”
The driver’s licenses of the three riders were confiscated by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Region 9 for reckless driving. They were also meted a 90-day suspension from operating any motorized vehicle.
Officials of the local LTO have recommended the revocation of their licenses to serve as a lesson for endangering the lives of others with their irresponsible riding behavior.
Meanwhile, the PNP has also identified the two police officers who were penalized after they were caught on video performing stunts on the busy streets of Zambales. They are PCMS Israel Bondoc and PMS Manuel Tolentino.
“I also hope that this, along with the incident in Zambales involving our two personnel who were also sanctioned, would further encourage our kababayan to report to the police activities that endanger the lives of our people on the road,” according to Eleazar.
