Collision-aversion technology provider Ride Vision recently introduced its artificial intelligence-based (AI) alert system for motorcycles to increase rider awareness and cut down on accidents.
Basically, the safety technology utilizes AI and image recognition to assist riders in real-time decision making via a human-machine warning interface and predictive vision algorithms. Making this possible are two wide-angle cameras (front and rear), alert indicators situated in the mirrors, and a main computing unit that stores the algorithms.
According to Ride Vision, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in people looking at motorcycles and other motorized two-wheeled vehicles as an alternative to public transport. Sales in Europe, for example, have risen by 30% on average. “Ultimately, more riders means more potential accidents,” the company explained.
The system promises 360-enhanced safety with forward collision, distance-keeping, blind spot, and dangerous overtake alerts. It also records rider data like total distance, total alerts, and maximum speed. Additional features include an emergency-call system after an accident, as well as forward-side collision and rear collision alerts.
The Israeli startup has raised a total of $10 million in funding, led by investment platform OurCrowd.
