The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has officially announced the appointment of Atty. Romando ‘Don’ Artes as the agency’s new general manager.
Prior to his appointment, Artes served as the MMDA’s assistant general manager for finance and administration.
Artes assumed the position after Jojo Garcia resigned from the post and filed his certificate of candidacy last October 5. The latter is eyeing the position of representative of San Mateo, Rizal in the May 2022 polls.
Garcia was appointed as officer-in-charge (OIC) general manager of the MMDA in February 2018, before assuming the position in official capacity two months later.
Last October 8, MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago also resigned from her post to run for party-list representative of the Malasakit Movement.
Pialago was appointed as the agency’s mouthpiece in September 2016, and was able to serve three MMDA chairpersons in Thomas Orbos, the late Danilo Lim, and Benhur Abalos.
