Established in 2002, the competition zeroes in on the innovations of companies and businessmen from 29 countries, particularly in providing first-class service and contributing positively to a particular sector like the motorcycle community in the Philippines.
The Shell biker fuel lanes were cited by Stevie Awards in the category of Outstanding Innovation on Customer Service for its safety features. The oil company has dedicated a special lane at select fuel stations to take care of riders and protect them from getting sideswept by bigger vehicles.
“The specialized Shell motorcycle lanes will address the mobility needs of the growing Filipino motorcycle community by being more inclusive in their services and offers,” says Randy del Valle, Pilipinas Shell vice president for retail and general manager for mobility.
“Bikers will no longer be sidelined by bigger vehicles at fuel lanes, which has been happening for years. Our motorcycle lanes changed all that,” Del Valle adds.
The motorcycle lanes now boast prominent entry signages and floor decals that are specially designed to guide riders to fuel pumps. Shell also offers exclusive services such as free helmet and motorcycle seat cleaning while bikers fuel up.
After starting out last year with only five fuel stations for its exclusive bike lanes, Pilipinas Shell is now targeting to adopt the program in at least 100 gas stations across the country.
Several motorcycle companies and dealerships have partnered with Shell to promote the initiative, namely Suzuki Motorcycle Philippines, TVS, Access Plus, and the Autohub Group, among others.
