In a recently released video, Triumph Motorcycles has essentially announced the coming of its next bike: the Speed Triple 1200 RR.
As the RR-suffix implies, this version of the British manufacturer’s already feisty sport naked is edgier and sportier than before. And if the video is anything to go by, the RR might not even be a naked motorcycle anymore.
Throughout the teaser video, the audience is presented with a whole lot of ‘design’ type movements. These include someone drawing a white line that translates into an unspecified part of the bike; close-up angles and sweeping shots of its angles and lines; and a designer meticulously carving and shaving a clay prototype of the upcoming new Speed Triple.
Then, we’re treated to a partial silhouette shot of the motorcycle. From what we can see, the headlight is shrouded in a near-complete fairing for a retro fully faired racer look. The passenger seat has been replaced with a solid rear seat cowl, which hints at a performance-based riding experience, further supported by the race leather-wearing rider’s sportbike riding position.
Details about the bike are limited, but visiting Triumph UK’s website gives us a few more clues, such as images of the standard Triumph fuel cap mounted on the tank’s top center; Triumph logo in the headlight assembly; and a better look at the front fairing.
Based on these design cues, the Speed Triple 1200 RR appears to be something of a neo retro sport bike with a single headlight housed in a front fairing assembly. Don’t be surprised of it looks a bit like MV Agusta’s Superveloce—a jaw-dropping bike in its own right.
According to the website, we only have to wait about a month for more information. Excited like us? Check out the teaser:
